About

Most firms sell one half of what a mission-driven organisation needs. We build both.

The firm

Progressive causes, cultural institutions and the people who trade in ideas are usually rich in audience and belief, and starved of the machinery that turns belief into lasting power: a commercial engine that funds the work, and a communications engine that makes it heard.

A fundraising agency does one. A PR firm does the other. For organisations built on belief, they were never really separate. The revenue and the narrative are the same machine.

Multiphonic builds the whole engine. Revenue, partnerships and self-funding events on one side. Media, narrative and reputation on the other. Clients get both disciplines from the two people actually doing the work, not a junior team and an account manager.

The principals

Commercial engine

Jasper Clifford-Smith

Jasper Clifford-Smith

Jasper leads the commercial engine: revenue strategy, partnerships, sponsorship, earned income, monetised events, and standing up the business and institutional structures underneath them.

He has been putting on events since he was seventeen, more than 300 across live music and the arts, and that instinct for building things people show up to still runs through everything he does. He built his commercial and marketing craft inside global technology, in marketing roles at Google and Caseware, and as the founder of his own venture, Integristack, through the Antler accelerator. He holds an MBA, and is a published writer on culture, food and music.

He brings that mix to organisations built on ideas, culture and causes, work that is usually rich in mission and short on commercial firepower, and his focus is turning audiences, ideas and goodwill into durable revenue.

Brid Walpole

Brid Walpole

Brid leads Multiphonic's communications work across earned media, narrative, publicity and partnerships, helping organisations find the story that will matter while building the strategy to carry it.

With more than 15 years' experience across culture, major events, consumer brands and public institutions, her work has included Oprah Winfrey in Conversation, Vivid Sydney, the State Library of NSW, Commonwealth Bank, the Art Gallery of NSW, and the Department of Education Victoria.

Her focus is creating clear and culturally relevant narratives that earn an audience's attention.

What we are not

Not a fundraising agency. We build commercial revenue and partnerships, not donor appeals.

Not a PR firm. We do communications as part of a commercial strategy, not coverage for its own sake.

Not a sponsorship broker. We are cause-side, building the model, not brand-side selling inventory.

Not a big agency. Two principals, senior hands on the work, no account-management layer.
